Meet Becky- our Mom of the Month for June! She has been part of FIT4MOM Lexington since May 2017 and we are so lucky to have her and her sweet little boy! Read more about Becky below!
Hey, I'm Becky! My husband Chase and I met through working at Buffalo Wild Wings while he was a cook and I was a server. We worked together for about a year until we started hanging out and falling in love. We have a wonderful 2 year old boy named Ethan and are expecting our baby girl, Avery Rose in August. I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in 2013 but I have yet to figure out my calling in life, besides a mother. For now, I am a Certifed Nursing Assistant at a nursing home because one of my passions in life is serving and caring for others. My wonderful husband has a lot of the same ambitions and moved up to a manager at the same restaurant where our story started. We got married in July of 2015 and God decided to bless us with our Ethan in 2016.
What is your favorite part about being a mom?
My favorite thing about a mother is how much Ethan looks up to me. Even after I think I made a mistake and the mom guilt creeps in, Ethan still adores me the same way he did the day before. This makes all of the difficult tasks of being a mom so worth it. He is my reason I am able to push through anything that may try to get in my way. I want to be able to be the best role model I can be.
With that being said, I knew I needed to be healthy and exercise regularly. I am so thankful that Kim, a friend I had met at a birthing class, told me about FIT4MOM! It was exactly what I needed! She was so sweet and encouraging and told me about this wonderful group of mamas that workout together with their children. After the first class I was hooked! I was amazed at how supportive all the mamas were of each other and seemed to also bond with the other children, not just their own. My first workout was tough, but I knew it would help get me in shape. It also taught me a lot about fitness and many new work out "moves" and stretches! I have also been enjoying Fit4Baby, as it is so relaxing and gives me more of an opportunity to share how my pregnancy is going and that many others are going through a lot of the same things! When I was pregnant with Ethan I did not have many others to talk to when I was wondering if what I was experiencing was "normal". I am so blessed and thankful that I found out about fit4mom when I did because I could not imagine my life without it! I love this village!
What advice do you have for first-time moms?
My advice to first time moms is to know you are not alone. Do not be afraid to reach out to other moms! Most moms want to help other moms in their journey. Make mom friends and not only be comfortable with sharing any mom stories and struggles, but do activities together that help you de-stress. I was so wrapped up in what I thought I was doing wrong that it was hard to make time for myself. One of the things that helped me the most was hanging out with friends and doing things that I enjoyed like watching movies and doing my nails. Don't forget to pamper yourself!
How did you hear about FIT4MOM Lexington?
When I was pregnant with Ethan I took a birthing class at University of Kentucky. Another expectant mom, Kim, was in the same class! It wasn't until about a year or so later that I ran into her at King's Gardens with sweet Savannah in a Lillebaby carrier. I remember commenting that I had one too and loved it. Then we discussed that we looked familiar to each other and figured out that we were in the birthing class together. Not too long after that, we ran into each other again but this time at Wal-Mart! We talked for a little longer this time and somehow working out came up in our conversation. She told me about FIT4MOM and that my first class is free and to check it out! I remember thinking that there had to be a reason that I kept running into her! So I tried it out and fell in love with the program! I have been in it since! (May of 2017). I am so thankful for sweet mamas like Kim and meeting the wonderful village of FIT4MOM!
