Mom of the Month- January

{1} Tell us who you are and a little about your kids and family!

Hi everyone! My name is Chelsey Mayo. I've been married to my husband John Michael for 6 1/2 years. We have two little girls; Lilly who just turned 3, and Georgia who is 2 months old. We also have a 9 year old rescue pup named Reba who was our first and still is our furriest baby. I'm a former teacher turned stay at home mom who experiments in crocheting and sewing from time to time.

{2} What do you like most about being a mom?

The thing I love most about being a mom is that each day brings a new adventure. Some days are laid back and lazy with lots of cuddles and reading books, while other days are filled with explorations and new experiences. I love seeing the world through the eyes of my girls. It's given me a totally different perspective on things, and to appreciate how special every day really is.

(3} Why do you stick with FIT4MOM as your workout program?

I started coming because I had to find somewhere that I could exercise, and I could bring my daughter with me. What I found was so much more. I found a group of mom who welcomed both Lilly and I with open arms. It was so great that I was able to make some time for myself to exercise, and then Lilly had a group of kids to play with afterwards. I loved being able to sit and enjoy some "mom talk" too. While I was pregnant with our second they started offering Fit4Baby prenatal classes. I was able to exercise my entire pregnancy! For me Fit4Mom offers me so much more than a workout. It's a place where my oldest has learned to make new friends and interact with her peers. It's a place where I've been pushed to become a better version of myself both physically and as a mother. But most of all it's a place where I found an encouraging compassionate group of women who have become so much more than some people I exercise with.

{4} What would you tell a first time mom to encourage them to take time for them?

First time moms, don't feel the pressure that you have to be the perfect mom all the time. Remember that you are the best mom for your baby. Take time for yourself. Ask for help. Make sure you make time for something you enjoy. Take a bubble bath. Go for a walk or run. Read a book or magazine. Take a nap. Your baby will be there when you're finished. They will love and appreciate having a happy healthy mom too!

{5} Any funny mom stories?

My mother in law loves to sing to Lilly. She was singing her Sally the Camel one day and Lilly kept telling her she was doing it wrong. My MIL told Lilly to show her. Lilly hopped off the couch and started doing squats while singing. My mother in law was so confused. I had to explain to her that we sing songs and exercise at Stroller Strides!
