Mom of the Month- August

Amie is our mom of the month for August and she is such a fun, inspiring, and joyful mama to have in our village! You can mostly find Amie at Stroller Strides with her sweet little boy, Leo. Read more on her below!

{1} Tell us who you are and a little about your kids and family!

I am Mom to Leo who is a creative and clever 3 year old little boy and wife to Jeremy, a theatre artist who is the Associate Artistic Director at Lexington Children's Theatre. I teach theatre at Lafayette High School and SCAPA. I direct shows and teach classes all day everyday and fully believe that I have the best job ever!

{2} What do you like most about being a mom?

I love seeing Leo discover new things everyday. His questions and insights on the world are so perceptive and hysterical. I feel honored to be his momma and just love spending time with him

{3} Why do you stick with FIT4MOM as your workout program?

I love the community! I don't have many friends who have kids and being with people who "get" being a mom and know that we are all trying our very best is such a valuable part of my emotional and physical health. The support, love, and kindness shown in this group is amazing and the fact that I get to laugh every class is a huge bonus. Also, the workouts are INTENSE and I always feel better about myself and my health when I am done!

{4} What would you tell a first time mom to encourage them to take time for them?

DO IT! The first class I took I didn't really talk to anyone because I was an overwhelmed first time momma. But at the end of class after witnessing the community a veteran mom told me "good job" and I knew I needed this group. This is my "me time", the time that I get to focus on my health so that I can be the best momma for Leo. I know that Stroller Strides has made me a better me and that makes me a better mom. I am so thankful for this group and theses mommas!

{5} Any funny stories about class or with kids or mom stories??

I started Stroller Strides the day after my doctor cleared me; Leo was 6 weeks old. I remember singing songs to a sleeping infant and wondering what it would be like to have a baby/toddler who enjoyed the songs and would sing along. Now Leo is 3 and he still won't sing with me but he knows all of the exercises and when we get home me makes me do lunges down the hall, squats at the stove, and as I type this he is doing Burpees in front of Daniel Tiger and yelling for me to come join him. He yells "good job mommas", "here is your holding pattern" and "choose your level" at random times. Clearly he is listening and loves his snack time in the stroller watching all of us take a little me time! OK, now I have to go do burpees!
