Meet Becky- our Mom of the Month for June! She has been part of FIT4MOM Lexington since May 2017 and we are so lucky to have her and her sweet little boy! Read more about Becky below!

Hey, I'm Becky! My husband Chase and I met through working at Buffalo Wild Wings while he was a cook and I was a server. We worked together for about a year until we started hanging out and falling in love. We have a wonderful 2 year old boy named Ethan and are expecting our baby girl, Avery Rose in August. I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in 2013 but I have yet to figure out my calling in life, besides a mother. For now, I am a Certifed Nursing Assistant at a nursing home because one of my passions in life is serving and caring for others. My wonderful husband has a lot of the same ambitions and moved up to a manager at the same restaurant where our story started. We got married in July of 2015 and God decided to bless us with our Ethan in 2016.

What is your favorite part about being a mom?

My favorite thing about a mother is how much Ethan looks up to me....

Congratulations to Denise- a wonderful mama & friend! She is a smiling force in our Stroller Strides classes and we are so thankful she is a part of our FIT4MOM Lexington family! Read more about Denise below!

Hi I am Denise! My husband, Connor, and I have a very happy and curious 15-month-old boy named Collin. My husband and I met in college at Brigham Young University where I graduated in the illustration program. We moved here for my husband’s medical school three years ago. I am from Lexington originally so I have my parents only 10 minutes away. I am a stay at home mom working part time as a children’s book illustrator. I am illustrating my first children's book currently. It is THE Fit4Mom book called “Mama’s Workout Buddy” written by Carina Parks. The first appearance will be in September so be on the lookout for it. Also I do the covers for KIT children’s magazine, I recently started selling prints of my paintings (well one painting so far), customized nursery silhouettes and I do commission work. Phew! I love it all so much.

I love being Collin’s mom. My...

Tell us a little bit about yourself!

I’m Lindsey and I am originally from East Tennessee. I married my college sweetheart, Steven, going on 14 years ago and have lived in Kentucky ever since. I am a director of philanthropy for UK HealthCare and I love working in our community to raise money to support the life-changing research, education and care happening there. Steven and I have two amazing daughters, Sullivan Elaine, 3.5 and Willa James, 1.5. They keep us on our toes and make life so much fun! We also have a wonderful 15+ year old dog named Lucy who is so sweet and bring us joy.

What do you love about being a mom?

There are so many things I love about being a mom. I love how motherhood has helped me to discover my best-self. Having these amazing little people filling you with unconditional love and unwavering faith pushes me to adapt and change and strive to be the best version of myself daily. The hugs and kisses are pretty awesome bonuses too!

Each month we like to recognize one mama from our village, and this month it's Sarah! She is mama to two sweet kids, Annabel and Hank and we love that she is a dedicated mama, wife, friend, and fit mom! Read more about Sarah below!

{1} Tell us who you are and a little about your kids and family!

Hi, I’m Sarah! My husband, Andrew, and I have two children: Annabel (3) and Hank, who turns one next week. Our family moved from North Carolina to Lexington in 2015, so that my husband could finish his cardiology training at UK. I’m a freelance writer, which means I stay in the leggings I wore to SS all day long and my “boss” never knows.

{2} What do you like most about being a mom?

I have found such joy in the simple things. It’s the sweetest when my daughter says “hold you” instead of “hold me.” Hank is starting to walk (he took six steps at SS last week), which makes my heart want to explode. I’ve also loved starting traditions with my...

{1} Tell us who you are and a little about your kids and family!

Hi everyone! My name is Chelsey Mayo. I've been married to my husband John Michael for 6 1/2 years. We have two little girls; Lilly who just turned 3, and Georgia who is 2 months old. We also have a 9 year old rescue pup named Reba who was our first and still is our furriest baby. I'm a former teacher turned stay at home mom who experiments in crocheting and sewing from time to time.

{2} What do you like most about being a mom?

The thing I love most about being a mom is that each day brings a new adventure. Some days are laid back and lazy with lots of cuddles and reading books, while other days are filled with explorations and new experiences. I love seeing the world through the eyes of my girls. It's given me a totally different perspective on things, and to appreciate how special every day really is.

(3} Why do you stick with FIT4MOM as your workout program?

I started coming because I had to find somewhere that I could exercise, and...

Daly is such a joy to be around! This mama is a consistent presence in our Stroller Strides classes, and also had a very successful Body Back session! At our last Mom's Night Out event, she got us into a lively game and we all laughed until our cheeks hurt! She is a huge part of our village and we are so thankful we have found her!

{1} Tell us who you are and a little about your kids and family!

My name is Daly Ellis and I am married to Jordan. We have been married for 4.5 years. We have 2 babies in heaven and our sweet rainbow baby Cooper! We have lived in Lexington for 2.5 years and we love it here!

{2} What do you like most about being a mom?

I think the thing I love the most about being a mom is the immense love that I have for my children. I have had to give up more than I ever thought I would and I wouldn't change a thing.

{3} Why do you stick with FIT4MOM as your workout program?

I stick with Fit4Mom because of two reasons. First, I really didn't have any friends before I started...

Screen Shot 2017-10-06 at 1.06.08 PM.png

Jen started her journey with Fit4Mom while on maternity leave with her sweet girl, Julianne... and she hasn't stopped since! She loves to come and hang out with her mama friends and let Julianne be out in the fresh air and get exercise in while enteracting with her girl!

{1} Tell us who you are and a little about your kids and family!

I am a born and raised Lexingtonian through and through and an avid UK sports fan! I am a UK Grad and I currently work full-time as the Director of Sales and Marketing for 21c Museum Hotel in downtown Lexington. I am a huge animal lover and have two fur babies, Bailey and Skyy, that love to snuggle…requiring my husband and I to have an oversized king bed (wouldn’t trade it for the world!) Kyle and I have been married for 4 years and together for going on 10 – we met in a very romantic setting…serving Outback Steakhouse cheese fries. We love to travel, are definitely foodies and enjoy being outside listening to good music (I say country and he says old school rock – we can agree on Billy Joel) and drinking wine. We...

Nicole is one of those moms that just jumps in. She is fully committed to her friends and family and knows how to encourage and help others without being asked. She knows what it means to be part of a village and we are so thankful she is a part of ours!

{1} Tell us who you are and a little about your kids and family!

I'm 30(ish), in a beautiful mess of a family with my husband, Drew, and two beautiful girls, Remi (3 yrs) & Rory (11 mo).

{2} What do you like most about being a mom?

That I never saw it coming. I had no expectations about how this mom thing was supposed to go, or how the hell I was going to keep these humans alive. Every day with these tinies is new, and completely being played by ear.

{3} Why do you stick with FIT4MOM as your workout program?

Because... I've never stuck with an exercise program. And with Fit4Mom, I miss it when I'm gone. It's more than a workout program; it's a life line.

Our Mom of the Month for August is Tasha! She is mama to Bella and is due in November with another little girl!

Tell us a little bit about yourself!

I was born in Ashland, KY but have lived in Lexington pretty much my whole life. I'm married to a ginger, Marty Vaughan, for 9 years in December. We have a strong willed, smart, and beautiful little girl named Isabella Grace (many of you know her as Bella Boo!) who's 3.5 years old. Bella's baby sister is due to arrive 11/3 :-). Her name is Lily, but we are still struggling with a middle name for her. I work full-time for a non-profit called The Christian Appalachian Project (CAP) in the Fundraising office which is located in Lexington. I have worked for CAP for 9 years and have been in my current position of Database Analyst for about 2 years. My husband is an English teacher at The STEAM Academy going on 4 years now.

What do you like most about being a mom?

One of the many things I like most about being a mom is getting kisses from my Bella Boo when I don't ask for them....

Screen Shot 2017-07-15 at 9.18.23 PM.png

Sarah doesn't stop- she is a mama to three sweet little kiddos, works out at Stroller Strides {pushing three kids} and attends Body Back! She is transforming her life and setting a fantastic example for her three kids. Let's hear more from Sarah!

Tell us more about yourself!

I am a veterinarian turned stay at home mom. My husband, David, and I have three children- Emma (5), Conrad (2), and Woods (6 months). We have two dog babies- Wrigley and Cassidy. I have held a deep love for animals and children since I was a little girl, so I feel I have the best of both worlds. I enjoy being able to spend my days with my children but I hope to get back to saving animals one day down the road.

What do you like most about being a mom?

I adore being a mom! I find myself looking at my children’s little hands and feet and thinking, "I helped create this little being". It’s not short of a miracle when you consider the very beginnings of their existence! Snuggles with my babies are pretty cool too!

Congrats Heather for being the Mom of the Month for June! We wanted to give you a shoutout and highlight you as a mama and someone who is so hard working in our programs! Thanks for being a part of our village!

{1} Tell us who you are and a little about your kids and family!

My name is Heather and I'm Hayley's mommy and my husband's name is Ben. Our life is a little chaotic but we wouldn't have it any other way. I work for the American Cancer Society as a fundraiser and Ben is in PhD school at UK and studies MS research and pain. We are all HUGE UK fans. (Hayley had a meltdown yesterday just so she could where her UK shirt).

{2} What do you like most about being a mom?

This changes daily! I love being Hayley's person. While there are days that she is worse with me because of it, I love the days that she wants to cuddle or play with mommy. I didn't know if I was going to be able to have any kids (yay chemo and a transplant!) so watching her grow is truly the best experience. I also love being able to teach her to be the...

1. Tell us who you are and a little about your kids and family.

Hi! My name is Ginger! I was born and raised in Louisiana. I lived there until I moved to Dallas, Texas for Dental Hygiene school. I met my husband, Chris in Texas. We called Ft. Worth, Texas home for 8 years(Chris’s hometown). We moved to Lexington in July 2013. I have three girls…Harmon (6), Hadleigh (3), and Hollis (2). I worked full-time in pediatric dentistry up until Hadeligh was born and I have been a stay at home mom ever since.

2. What do you like most about being a mom?

Mostly what I like about being a mom is that there is no right or wrong. There is a HUGE margin of error. Every child is so different, including each of my three are so very different. It really is about just figuring out what works best for each of them. It took me a long time to realize after my first that I am my own worst critic. There is not one book or one person that has it perfect. Being a mom is doing the best you can do for your kids and trying to say SANE in...

kat MOM.jpg

{1} Tell us about you and your family!

My name is Kat and I am the mother of two beautiful rambunctious boys and wife to my other half David!

Elijah is 4 he is our oldest and Atlas just turned 2.

Our family is pretty active and loves being outside. Our boys might never come in if we didn't make them. On the weekend you can usually find us running/walking/playing at the park.

{2} What do you like most about being a mom?

I love seeing the things you've taught your kids in action. And then being amazed at the things they learn on their own. I love seeing Elijah's compassion and Atlas' understanding of a new word or concept.

And of course the snuggles, both my boys are snugglers and I wouldn't change that for the world. I like knowing that we are raising little boys to be gentlemen. I'm extremely proud of both our boys and I just can't even remember what it was like before them as cheesy as that sounds. I enjoy everything about being their Mom!

{3} Why do you stick with Stroller Strides as your workout program?

The short answer...

Congratulations to Liz for being our Mom of the Month for February. Liz is one of those women that you can easily talk to, whenever, wherever, about anything! She's a great positive momma to have in class and is always up for fun. Thanks Liz for joining our village back in June- we're so glad you're with us. Now let's learn a little more about Liz!

1} What motivates you to workout, even on busy days?

Working out keeps me balanced. If I don’t work out, I end up yelling at my husband [more than usual]. So, it is definitely best for all of us if I get some workout time in during the week.

2} Tell me about your son!

I have an 18 month old, Tony! He is named after the Patron Saint of Miracles because doctors told us we couldn’t have children naturally. My husband went through chemo in 2010, but five years later, he was in remission and then Tony was born! So, we think he is pretty special, but definitely keeps me on my toes!

3} How did you hear about Stroller Strides and why do you keep coming back?

I was searching for something Tony...

Congratulations to Meghann on being our Mom of the Month for January. She started with her little girl, Larkin, in September and has been ALL IN ever since. Meghann is ready to work the entire hour and has been a fabulous addition to our village! Let's learn a little more about her:

What I like most about being a mom is ever changing. It's so fun being home with Larkin and getting to know her and having her learning and changing everyday. With the boys I love sharing all their new adventures and learning who they are as individuals.

My kids are Philip {12}, Thomas {9}, and Larkin {6 months.} Philip loves theater and has been involved a several shows in several theaters around Lexington. Thomas likes theater as well but also enjoys hunting and archery. Larkin likes chewing on everything and cuddling.

I was a member of a stroller class when Philip was little. After Larkin was born I wanted to get back in shape but wanted to keep Larkin with me. I knew I wanted a stroller group and was happy to find Stroller Strides! I keep coming back because I love the workout...

1} What is your favorite part about being a momma?

My favorite part of being a momma is watching Madeline explore the world and become her own person. Simple things like baking cookies or now the ornaments on our Christmas tree are new to her and she's starting to make connections and talking about everything! "That cookie is hot! This ornament is red." In fact her favorite phrase this week is "what's that momma?" ALL DAY LONG! But cuddling with her first thing in the morning before the sun rises and answering her never ending questions only makes me love her and my husband more.

2} What advice would you give a first time mom?

Get out of the house everyday, even just a walk at the park or grab lunch at a drive thru while your kiddo naps in the car. Fresh air does a lot of good those first few months. Exercise is also great to start feeling like your body is yours again. I picked up running after Madeline and it was a great way to have time by myself, listen to podcasts and not be needed by anyone for just a few minutes. Also,...

Congratulations to Elizabeth for being the Mom of the Month!! Elizabeth joined our village in March of this year and has been a fabulous addition to our group of mommas! Her good attitude is contagious and so is her smile! Elizabeth has a great listening ear and is quick to help another mom out. Thanks, Elizabeth, for working hard and being a part of our village.

1} What is some advice you would give a first time mom?

Go with the flow! I thought I had a plan of how I was going to do things when Webb came home. I learned very quickly Webb wasn't ok with that plan or that my body wasn't on board with what I wanted. My husband, Clay, was the one who reminded me not everything had to be exactly how I thought it should be, or what other moms had told me their experience was. We had to adapt, and the best thing I could have learned was to just let things happen.

2} What motives you to workout? Even on stressful and busy days?

There are definitely days when I feel like I'm too busy or too stressed to do much of anything. But...

Meet Virginia!

Momma to James & August

Our village wouldn’t be the same without Virginia! She has been a part of our community since April 2014 and has been working hard ever since. Virginia is outgoing, encouraging, and a great momma to her two boys. Here is a bit more from Virginia!

{be sure to read all the way through, her story at the end is great!}

1} What is some advice you would give a first time mom?

The best advice that I would give a first time mom is to not be afraid to reach out. When my first son, James, was born – I was working over full time at our family business and had a very hard time adjusting to how I could do all my work and care for him. I had to learn the hard way that while I am a super woman – I genuinely can not do it all. I reached out and made friends with other moms at stroller strides who helped me know that it was not just me going through this internal struggle. All of us at some point or another have felt overwhelmed with work, kids, husbands, family; endless hands (some...

Our Motivating Mom of the Month for September is Katie

a.k.a Elaine's mommy.

Katie has been a part of our village since March of this year and our classes haven’t been the same since! Katie brings life, humor, and encouragement to each workout she attends and is always up for a MNO and some good old fashioned socializing. Katie’s a fantastic mom to daughter Elaine and these two ladies are a great part of our village. Hear from Katie below:

Hello FIT4MOM Community,

My loving and hardworking husband Justin, a native to Lexington, landed us here two years ago. Justin is the only reason I would ever climb out of the mountains of West Virginia. We welcomed our sweet and curious daughter Elaine a year ago July 25th. "Baby Wayne" gives us a reason to smile and try our very best. Parenthood came with some second guessing and many sleepless nights. Following our heart and listening for laughter just might carry us along.

Through a Google search we found Stroller...

Our Motivating Mom of the Month is Ashley a.k.a Elayna and Deacon's mommy!

If you know Ashley, you know that she always works hard and does it with a smile! Ashley has been a part of our Stroller Strides village since July 2014 and has been going strong since! She is a full-time gifted and talented teacher, has two little ones at home and is your go-to for super cute and delicious cookies at your next birthday party or get together! Thank you for being part of Our Village!

1} What is some advice you would give a first time mom?

This group is so much more than a fitness group, you develop lifelong friendship with other like minded moms. Also, make time for yourself and go to the Moms Night Out events, they are always fun and a much needed stress reliever from the hectic lives we lead.

2} What motivates you to workout? Even on a stressful & busy day?

Two things: My personal goal to maintain a healthy lifestyle not only physically but mentally as well. And second, to instill the importance of these values in my...

Our July Motivating Mom of the Month is Heather a.k.a. Hudson and Harrisons mama!

Heather has been part of our FIT4MOM Lexington village since October 2015. She has been committed to attending classes, pushing herself physically, and encouraging other moms along the way since day one! We are so glad she and her sweet boys are part of our village! Here is more from Heather:

1} What's your favorite part of motherhood?

My favorite part of motherhood is seeing the world through my children's eyes. There are so many "firsts". Everything, even the smallest thing, is an amazing new experience to them. You get to witness pure joy almost daily.

2} What's some advice you would give a first-time mother?

I would share my favorite advice I received with my first son. Especially once he became old enough to not listen to me and throw fits, I always worried if I was being a good enough mom, if I was doing the right things to make sure he turned out to be a good and kind person, etc. Amid my...

Our March Motivating Mom of the Month is Venessa a.k.a. Hunters mommy!

I am originally from Syracuse, NY and after visiting Lexington, KY I knew this was where I was meant to be. I have a good friend who was always posting on Facebook about her FIT4MOM group in Denver and how much fun she was having. I envied her and I desperately needed something like that in my life. That is when I found FIT4MOM Lexington and joined this amazing group of moms! It was 2 years ago now and has been the best decision that I have made for me and my family. When my son was born I very much needed to meet other moms and I wanted to become active again.

1. What is your favorite part of being a mama?

What I love about being a mom is that nothing else can produce the joy or broken heart that motherhood allows. I can’t imagine going through life without feeling that spectrum of emotion. Feeling it all, good or bad, gives my life purpose.

2. What keeps you motivated to stay active?

My son keeps me motivated to stay active. He is...

Each month we take an opportunity to recognize one of our 'Motivating Moms' Our February Motivating Mom of the Month is Hannah a.k.a. Graysons mommy! She continues to set goals, work hard and encourage those around her! We are thrilled to announce that Hannah will be joining our team as an instructor in the very near future! And to think, she almost didn't come to her first class because she, like SO many of us, was hesitant to start something new while still trying to navigate being a new mommy. Thank you for allowing FIT4MOM Lexington to take part in your journey through motherhood!

Below is more from Hannah...

I am so excited to be recognized as February's Mom of the Month! Fit4Mom has helped me get back into shape after pregnancy and has been a big part of my motivation in making and keeping fitness and health goals. I just turned 29 in November and in my last year of my 20s, I have decided to complete at least one 5K each month, to prove to myself I've still got it! I also made a goal for myself to get certified as a Group Fitness Instructor and begin teaching...
