Mary's Body Back Journey

The Workouts

I wanted to talk about the Body Back Transformation workouts and share the love!

Every workout is designed with the female body in mind. The exercises are target for women, which is great news. The program meets you where you are because there are exercise modifications for every fitness level.

Every workout is different, challenging and fun! Just to give you an idea of one of the workouts; we will do 3 exercises for 1 minute each, usually 2 or 3 times through. One of the exercises will be focused on cardio, one on strength and one on the core. We give it all we've got for 1 minute, and then we get a little short rest to recover before getting into the next exercise. The workouts challenge all areas of the body to tone and strengthen. I love the varied workouts. I don't get bored, I know I'm in for something great each time I arrive at class, and I am challenging different muscles each class, so my body doesn't get used to the same old workout.

The energy from the instructor and the other women throughout the whole class is very motivating....

Going into the third week of Body Back Transformation I was excited because I felt a big difference in how I physically felt. I was feeling stronger, energetic, and a more positive attitude.

A major component of this program is assessments because we need to measure our progress. The assessments include weekly weigh-ins. I was very excited to see progress in this area! Wednesday's weight-in gave me even more motivation and made me feel great because I could actually see the progress I had made in the prior two weeks of hard work. I wanted to work even harder this week and I had a renewed focus on the overall goal.

I've been raving about the tools and resources of this program, and I'll reiterate them again. The workouts which are focused on women's specific needs for their body are amazing. The meal planning and resource guides have been a huge part of my weekly meal planning. I use these on a weekly basis to plan my meals and snacks. We even have a body back "bestie!" This person is our accountability partner. We can rely on them for support and more resources...

Meal Prep 3.jpg

This week I really tried to focus on meal preparation and adding some new items to my meal rotations. I feel that I have established some good habits for exercise, but I really need to work on the nutrition and meal side of a healthy lifestyle.

I sat down on Sunday morning with a cup of coffee and the Body Back Recipe Guide and wrote out my weekly meal plan. I planned out my breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and snacks for the week. I do like to be a little spontaneous, so I left Saturday open as a "creative" day. I also like to basically eat the same thing for breakfast and lunch each day and then have something different for dinner. I then made my shopping list, hit the grocery store, and then began my preparations. I choose 4 sides and 1 main meat. I chopped the veggies and seasoned everything. I put all the food on 1 tray and baked it at 425 degrees for 25 minutes. The chicken took about 15 minutes longer to cook.

Voila. I had 4 dinners for Monday - Thursday, all baked on 1 tray. I divided the food up into 4 storage containers (mixed up all different veggies), cut...

The Workout

I am proud to say I started by journey with Body Back Transformation workouts today. I was really tired starting out, but soon got that blood pumping. Half way through the workout, Lindsay reminded us to work outside our comfort level. Can we push just a little harder? Her words made me want to work harder. I remember what I wrote on my SMART goals over the weekend; To change my inner thoughts to, I can and I WILL. I actually told myself, I can and I will. This helped me push through to the end.

As I sit here in my office this morning I feel full of energy and elated. I have a better concentration level than normal and after only 1 workout? Sold. I'll be back on Friday!

The Nutrition

We did our assessments and goals this past Saturday. I was feeling very motivated after being with all the hard working moms on Saturday. Their words and goals inspired me to be "all in." I completed my weekly menu planning on Sunday, went grocery shopping, and even did some meal preparations on Sunday. These have been a life saver for me this week because I am...
